ABERDEEN MAN JAILED FOR THREATENING EX-PARTNER WITH ACID AND ARSON
A man named Robson Curry, aged 26, committed a serious assault against his ex partner following the breakdown of their five-month relationship, which ended at the beginning of June 2021.Curry drove to her home in Aberdeen to retrieve clothing but became aggressive upon arrival.
He stormed into her bedroom, smashing a mirror, and also damaged a window in the process.
During this confrontation, he wielded a wrench and threw the broken mirror on the ground, kicking it while shouting: “You break everything including relationships.” Subsequently, he took a bottle containing ammonia from his car, threatening to throw acid on her and her family while warning he would burn her house down.
At the court, it was described that Curry threatened to ‘throw acid’ and make stabbing threats, with the female victim fearing he had a bottle of acid in his possession.
The woman managed to take the bottle from him, after which Curry left, damaging a security light and smashing a bathroom window.
He drove close to her property but did not make contact, then threatened to return with “20 men” to harm her and her family, warning he would burn it down before driving away.
Damage to the mirror was valued at £100, and the window damage cost £150.
Curry, who was at the time disqualified from driving, pleaded guilty to a domestically aggravated charge of threatening behavior.
He was also convicted of driving while disqualified, without insurance, and for failing to attend court previously.
The court sentenced Curry to 20 months in jail, imposed a seven-year non-harassment order, and disqualified him from driving for nearly ten years.
His defense acknowledged his turbulent background and admitted his actions could have been handled more responsibly.
