ABERDEEN MAN SENT ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER FOR UNWANTED SEXUAL MESSAGES
An Aberdeen man has been placed on the sex offenders register after sending unwanted sexual messages to a female on his contact list.Robert Grassick, aged 55, appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he admitted to the charge of sexual communications.The court was told that the female had initially messaged Grassick about another issue, but their conversation swiftly turned sexual during the evening of December 8 last year.The victim, who cannot be named legally, attempted to steer the conversation back to the original topic, but Grassick continued to persist.Appeal for Picture of Private PartsAccording to court reports, the woman sent a picture of herself with her dog after Grassick asked for photos.He responded with a compliment, suggesting she should consider a modeling career: “You should look at getting into a modelling job and earn some big bucks.”She then tried to return the discussion to the original matter, but Grassick asked her for a nude picture.
When she refused and told him to “get a grip,” he demanded, “Pic now.”The court heard that he continued to request sexually explicit photos and make inappropriate remarks.Behavior and Court ProceedingsThe victim asked him to stop discussing sex and attempted to revert the conversation, but Grassick sent messages describing performing a sexual act on her.
She then contacted the police after receiving no further inappropriate images.Defense solicitor Neil McRobert stated that Grassick’s conduct was out of character and claimed that his client had not been sleeping and was on medication at the time, which affected his memory of the messages’ content.
He also noted that Grassick acknowledged having sent the messages but did not fully recognize their sexual nature and expressed an apology to the woman.Sheriff Philip Mann deferred sentencing for future reports and ordered Grassick to adhere to sexual offences register notifications.
Grassick, residing at Smithfield Court, was told to return for sentencing on July 23.
