Robert Gibson

Paisley Sexual Abuser

June 2022 Child sex offender jailed for deleting internet search history after watching porn A child sex predator is back behind bars after breaching the conditions of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order. Former UK Passport Office employee Robert Gibson, 44, was made the subject of a strict Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) in November 2020. The order was imposed to protect the public after he was released from prison over a jail term imposed for sending a nude picture to someone he thought was a 12-year-old girl. On Friday, Gibson, of Mimosa Road, Bridge of Weir, appeared in the dock from custody at Paisley Sheriff Court to admit breaching the terms of his SOPO by deleting his internet browsing history after watching pornography. Procurator fiscal depute Dana Barclay told the court: “Gibson was released from prison and made subject to a SOPO. “One of his conditions prohibits him from deleting internet browser search history, chat logs and text messages. “On April 11, 2022, PC McPherson received intelligence that Gibson has been searching for sexual content, including pornography, using the search engine Google. “Police officers attended at his home address and examined his phone. “It appeared there had been no access to sexual material on the internet history of the phone. “The phone was seized for further analysis, which detailed that the accused had accessed pornography and sexual content between March 4 and April 10. “The accused was arrested, had a telephone consultation with his lawyer and made no reply to caution and charge.” Sentencing, Sheriff Eoin McGinty said: “Sexual Offences Prevention Orders are put in place to protect the public, particularly children and vulnerable people, so the court has to take these types of offences seriously otherwise these orders are toothless. “With passage of time your offending behaviour gets worse.” Sheriff McGinty jailed Gibson for 14 months, backdating this to his date of remand on April 19. In December 2020, Gibson messaged four women he knew through his Facebook account, while at his home in Paisley. But he had failed to tell police about the interactions and had deleted the Facebook and Messenger apps from his phone, and with it his activity on the apps – which was another breach of his SOPO conditions. In 2019, vile Gibson was caged for 15 months for sending a nude picture of himself to an undercover paedophile hunter. He tried to groom someone he thought was a 12-year-old girl for sex – but she was actually an adult decoy. He had actually been messaging a member of Wolf Pack Hunters UK, which roots out and identifies online groomers who target children. They chatted through apps Skout and WhatsApp, with Gibson saying he wanted to teach her to kiss, that he wanted her to touch his private parts and that he wanted to have sex with her without wearing a condom. After telling her “sex is not sore” he sent a photograph of himself naked with his private parts clearly exposed and his face visible. April 2021 Child sex creep who sent nude picture to 12-year-old jailed for Facebook messages to women A child sex creep who tried to groom an underage girl has been jailed for ignoring a ban on him contacting women. Ex-government worker Robert Gibson had been made the subject of a strict Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) after sending a nude picture to what he thought was a 12-year-old girl. The 43-year-old was in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court again after flouting the strict rules imposed to protect the public and messaging women on Facebook The pervert had originally been jailed for sending the vile picture, but released on the condition he adhered to the terms of the order, which bans him from “having any relationship, association or acquaintance with an adult female” – unless he has told officers from Police Scotland’s Offender Management Unit. However, on December 21 the former UK Passport Office worker messaged four women he knew on Facebook from his home in Paisley. The court heard the conversations were “brief, adult appropriate and general.” But he had failed to tell police about the interactions and had deleted the Facebook and Messenger apps from his phone, and with it his activity on the apps – which was another breach of his SOPO conditions. On Thursday, Gibson appeared in the dock to admit breaching the terms of his SOPO by messaging the women and deleting the apps and their history. His lawyer said: “There was significant adverse publicity in relation to his previous case. “He very much kept himself to himself. He was already in isolation because of his previous matter, and became increasingly anxious.” Sheriff Tom McCartney was told he “spoke to these females he knew previously” that day and had recently been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Sheriff McCartney said: “Breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order is a serious matter. “It is my assessment that a prison sentence requires to be imposed.” He caged Gibson for 12 months, backdated to January, when he was first remanded in custody. In 2019, at the same court, Gibson was caged for 15 months for sending a nude picture of himself to an undercover paedophile hunter. He tried to groom what he thought was a 12-year-old girl for sex – but she was actually an adult decoy. He’d actually been messaging a member of Wolf Pack Hunters UK, which roots out and identifies online groomers who target children. They chatted through apps Skout and WhatsApp, with Gibson saying he wanted to teach her to kiss, that he wanted her to touch his private parts and that he wanted to have sex with her without wearing a condom. After telling her “sex is not sore” he sent her a photograph of himself naked with his private parts clearly exposed and his face visible. Gibson resigned from his job at the UK Passport Office over the first case, and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years. June 2019 Pervert Robert Gibson barred from contact with under-16s caught with three kids at Glasgow soft play A PERVERT out on bail waiting sentencing for sharing indecent images with a child was caught with three children at a Glasgow soft play. Robert Gibson was having his ankle tag checked when security bosses spotted him talking to a woman of 31. The woman mentioned that Gibson had met her three children, aged nine, five and one on three occasions. Between November 1, 2018 and April 7, 2019 the 41-year-old met with the children at a house and then at a soft play centre in Glasgow. He was never unsupervised with the children, Glasgow Sheriff Court heard. The court was told Gibson, from Paisley, met the woman online and became friendly with her through chatting together. When police arrested him, Gibson said: “I done it. I now realise I was wrong. “I miscalculated my convictions.” Before his arrest, Gibson had been in full time employment but, his defence brief told the court, he lost his job. The lawyer said: “Before [these events] he had lived a blameless existence and he has had a spectacular fall from grace. “He now finds himself serving a lengthy custodial sentence.” Gibson had been sentenced at Paisley Sheriff Court for sending indecent images to a child under the age of 16. He was given 15 months in prison for the crime. While on bail he had been prohibited from having “contact of any kind with any child under the age of 16 other than as is inadvertent and not reasonably avoidable in the course of lawful daily life.” At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Sheriff Barry Divers said: “I have listened to what has been said on your behalf. “What my attention has been drawn to, I take a very serious view of this breach of bail. “Conditions were put in place to protect children and you breached those conditions of bail.” Gibson was sentenced to 96 days in prison to be served consecutively to his current jail term. This was reduced from 182 days given Gibson’s guilty plea.
