PAUL MCMENEMY QUINN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN PAISLEY

In a case that has shocked the community of Paisley, a man identified as Paul McMenemy Quinn has been sentenced to 41 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

The incident took place in July of this year, during a visit to the girl’s family home, where Quinn was a guest.

According to court records, Quinn, aged 43, committed the assault while he was staying at the residence.

The young girl, who was only 13 at the time, confided in her mother about the distressing incident, prompting her to report the matter to the authorities.

DNA evidence was collected and subsequently confirmed Quinn’s involvement, leading to his guilty plea.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, Sheriff David Pender presided over the case and issued a comprehensive sentence.

He ordered that Quinn’s name be entered onto the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period, emphasizing the seriousness of his crime.

Furthermore, the sheriff stated that Quinn would be referred to Scottish ministers to assess his suitability to work with minors in the future, indicating ongoing concerns about his potential risk to children.

Sheriff Pender explained that the severity of the sentence was justified by the gravity of the offence, Quinn’s prior criminal record for serious offences, and the breach of trust involved in the incident.

He noted that if Quinn had not admitted guilt, the sentence would have been approximately four and a half years.

The court heard that Quinn, who is from Paisley, was known to the victim’s family as a friend.

On the day of the assault, he had arrived at the family gathering intoxicated.

After others at the event decided to leave, Quinn was told he was not in a fit state to travel and was allowed to stay overnight.

The girl’s mother had gone to bed, permitting her daughter to remain awake.

It was during this time, when they were alone in the living room, that Quinn closed the door and committed the sexual assault.

The girl later disclosed the incident to her parents the following day, which led to police involvement.

Following the forensic DNA results, Quinn expressed a desire to resolve the matter quickly and avoid the girl having to give evidence in court, indicating a willingness to settle the issue.

The case has brought to light serious concerns about safety and trust within the community of Paisley, highlighting the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable individuals.
