ABERDEEN MAN RICHARD GEDDES CAUGHT WITH OVER 15,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen, Richard Geddes, a 39-year-old resident of the city, appeared before Aberdeen Sheriff Court following the discovery of an extensive collection of indecent images of children. The investigation began when police executed a search warrant at his residence on Beechview Court in Old Aberdeen, leading to the seizure of multiple electronic devices.
During the search on December 13, authorities uncovered a staggering number of illicit materials stored on Geddes' devices.
Initially, they identified 16 photographs directly accessible on the devices, but further forensic analysis revealed a far more disturbing cache.
It was found that Geddes had saved a total of 15,703 photographs and 243 videos, amounting to nearly 13 hours of footage, which were stored across various devices but not all immediately accessible.
The content included highly disturbing material, with 94 images and one video classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of child exploitation content.
The sheer volume and nature of these images underscore the gravity of the offense and the extent of Geddes' involvement in the possession of such material.
Richard Geddes admitted in court to charges related to the possession of indecent photographs and pseudo-photographs of children, either taken or permitted to be taken.
His guilty plea was entered during his appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
As part of the legal proceedings, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, a measure that will have lasting implications for his future.
Sentencing for Geddes is scheduled for next month, and the case continues to draw attention due to the serious nature of the crimes committed and the impact on the victims and the community of Aberdeen.
