July 2022 Wiltshire school caretaker made indecent images of children A school caretaker who was arrested after an internet monitoring company alerted police about his computer use has been sentenced after he admitted making indecent images of children. Richard Burt, 66, of Cornwall Road, Salisbury, was arrested in August 2020 amid concerns being raised about the type of websites he was accessing while at work. When police forensically examined his mobile phone and tablet, they found evidence of indecent images of children. Burt, who was employed as a site manager at Manor Fields School in Salisbury, was immediately suspended while the investigation progressed. Burt appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court in April this year and pleaded guilty to one charge of making indecent images of children. He was released on conditional bail and appeared again today (July 8) for sentencing. He was given an 18-month community order. He will be put on the sex offenders’ register for five years and must abide by the conditions of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.
