JONATHAN HUNT SENTENCED IN SALISBURY AND SHIPSTON FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING TEENAGER

A teacher from Shipston High School has been formally sentenced to a prison term after being found guilty of serious sexual offences committed against a 15-year-old student. Jonathan Hunt, aged 52, entered a guilty plea to charges that included engaging in sexual activities with the minor while occupying a position of trust and authority. The court heard that Hunt also engaged in grooming behavior, attempting to manipulate the girl into a sexual relationship.

During the proceedings, Hunt admitted to causing the girl to watch sexual acts, an act he sought to derive gratification from. The gravity of his actions was underscored by the judge, who expressed disappointment at Hunt’s fall from respectability and the breach of trust involved in his misconduct.

As a result of his guilty plea, Hunt was sentenced to a total of three years and four months in prison. Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future interactions with minors.

Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed, which explicitly restricts Hunt’s contact with minors and prohibits him from engaging in any form of teaching or tutoring involving girls under the age of 16. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of his offences and the need to protect vulnerable young individuals from potential harm in the future.
