In August 2017, a disturbing case involving Julian Timothy Darch, a man with connections to Salisbury and now residing in Chippenham, came to light.

Darch, aged 55, was found to possess nearly 100 indecent images of children on his electronic devices, a revelation that shocked the local communities.

He faced multiple charges, including ten counts of creating and possessing illegal images of minors.

The investigation revealed that some of these images were classified as Category A, indicating they were among the most severe and graphic types of child exploitation material.

Despite the gravity of the charges, Darch was not sentenced to prison.

Instead, he received a community order, which requires him to adhere to certain conditions set by the court.

In terms of financial penalties, Darch was required to pay a fine of £250, along with a victim surcharge of £85 and Crown Prosecution Costs of £85.
