RICHARD BRUCE FROM ABERDEEN SHOUTS ABUSE AT EX-LOVER ON BEACH ESPLANADE
Richard Bruce, a 52-year-old resident of Aberdeen, found himself in legal trouble after a disturbing incident that unfolded on the city's Beach Esplanade. The court was informed that Bruce, while out collecting sea glass along the popular shoreline, unexpectedly encountered his former partner walking with a new companion. Overcome with emotion and unable to contain his anger, Bruce launched into a tirade directed at her.He shouted at her, calling her a 'narcissistic c***' and accusing her of being 'self-centred.' His verbal assault did not stop there; he also directed hostile words towards her new partner, warning him to 'run a mile.' The situation escalated when Bruce left the scene briefly but then returned in his vehicle, continuing to shout and intimidate, which caused considerable distress to the woman involved.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Bruce approached the woman while shouting, making derogatory remarks such as: 'Check you and your fat a***.' He also directed aggressive comments at her new partner, telling him to 'stay away from that b****' and warning him again to 'run a mile, mate.' The court heard that Bruce's behaviour was threatening and abusive, leading to his guilty plea on charges related to his conduct.
His defence solicitor explained that Bruce was triggered by the sight of his ex after their breakup and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, which contributed to his reaction. She also mentioned that Bruce was willing to write an apology letter, although she acknowledged that the woman might not want to receive it.
As a result of his actions, the sheriff imposed a fine of £320 on Bruce and issued a non-harassment order that prohibits him from contacting his former partner for a period of one year, aiming to prevent any further incidents of this nature.
