RACHID BOUASRIA SHOCKS ABERDEEN WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 75-YEAR-OLD WOMAN
A 25-year-old man, Rachid Bouasria, has been officially added to the sex offenders register for a period of 18 months following his admission to committing a sexual assault against an elderly woman in Aberdeen.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on October 10 of the previous year when Bouasria approached a 75-year-old woman who was walking along a quiet side street near Market Stance, close to the historic Castlegate area.
Without any apparent provocation, Bouasria suddenly put his arm around her, kissed her on the face, and inappropriately groped her bottom before quickly moving away from the scene.
The case was heard at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where Bouasria, who at the time was residing in Westhill but now lives in Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to a single count of sexual assault.
His legal representative, Jenny Logan, explained to the court that her client had consumed a significant amount of alcohol on the day of the incident and suffers from mental health issues, which she claimed prevented him from recalling the details of what transpired.
She emphasized that Bouasria was deeply remorseful and maintained that such behavior was entirely out of character for him.
In response, Sheriff Morag McLaughlin sentenced Bouasria to an 18-month community payback order, which includes supervision and the requirement to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, the court mandated that Bouasria must inform social work services of any future romantic or intimate relationships with women.
It was also stipulated that he will remain on the sex offenders register for the entire duration of the community order, underscoring the seriousness of the offense and the court’s efforts to monitor his conduct moving forward.
