PETER NICOL'S SHOCKING PAST FROM ABERDEEN TO POLITICAL RACE
Peter Nicol, a man with a deeply troubling criminal history, is now making headlines as he seeks to become a local councillor in Aberdeen, despite his past convictions for serious offenses. Nicol, aged 27, was convicted in 2016 of multiple instances of abusing teenagers, a series of actions that have cast a long shadow over his current political ambitions.During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Nicol had behaved in a threatening and abusive manner towards his victims, many of whom were in romantic relationships with him. One particularly disturbing incident involved him locking a girl outside his home while she was only in her underwear, refusing to allow her back inside. When she attempted to re-enter, Nicol reportedly closed the door on her fingers, causing her distress and injury. This act of cruelty was just one of several allegations against him.
Further accounts detailed that Nicol had physically assaulted another girl by dragging her to the floor by her hair and kicking her. In addition, he was found guilty of slamming the head of a different teenager against the floor while making abusive comments during their relationship. These acts of violence and abuse led to his placement on the sex offenders' register for a period of three years, during which he was also under supervision. Despite these serious convictions, Nicol’s criminal record includes an underage sexual activity with a girl he met on Tinder, despite knowing she was only 15 years old.
In the upcoming Scottish council elections, Nicol is standing as an independent candidate for the Tillydrone, Seaton, and Old Aberdeen ward in Aberdeen. Although there were reports suggesting he had withdrawn his name from the ballot, the Aberdeen City Council has officially confirmed that he remains a candidate. Nicol has publicly stated that he is transparent about his past, claiming to have communicated openly with residents of the ward. He has expressed his intention to serve as a representative who listens to and advocates for the community’s interests. His campaign features a pledge to provide a 'clear voice' for the local residents.
Despite his educational achievements—holding qualifications in psychology, sociology, and communication—the court highlighted that these academic credentials did not prevent him from engaging in criminal behavior. Sheriff Cowan addressed Nicol directly, remarking, "You are an intelligent young man with highers in psychology, sociology and communication. These did not do you any good in these circumstances." The court summarized his criminal record, confirming that Nicol had committed multiple acts of abuse and violence during his relationships. Under current legislation, his conviction is considered spent, meaning it may not be publicly disclosed in certain contexts.
Additionally, reports related to Nicol’s criminal history reveal that he previously sought donations to support a humanitarian trip to the Ukraine-Poland border, raising over £1,000 for supplies amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. However, questions about his suitability for public office persist, given his criminal record and the ongoing debates surrounding his fitness to serve as a community representative in Aberdeen.
