ABERDEEN GUITAR COLLECTOR FINED FOR ASSAULT AFTER PAWN RAGE
Peter Main, a 50-year-old guitar enthusiast, engaged in a violent incident in Aberdeen when he chased and assaulted his girlfriend after discovering she had pawned one of his precious guitars for only £60.The incident occurred around 10 am on October 14, along Hayton Road, as police officers responded to an unrelated alarm at a nearby Nisa store.
According to Aberdeen Sheriff Court records, Main was standing at the junction with Formartine Road when he began to run towards the woman, catching up to her and grabbing her, shaking her in front of responding officers.
Main, who lives on Wingate Road, Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to a domestically aggravated assault charge and was fined £210.
The court heard from his defense lawyer that Main's anger stemmed from the financial loss after his girlfriend sold one of his guitars, which he wanted to retrieve but was asked to pay £90.
Main was said to have become enraged upon learning about the pawn sale, leading to his chase and assault.
During the incident, the woman was not injured and refused to give a statement to police.
Main was subsequently restrained, cautioned, and taken to custody.
The court emphasized Main's hobby of collecting guitars, amassing nine instruments, and highlighted the financial dispute as the motive for his aggression.
The case resulted in a fine, but Main did not recover the pawned guitar, which remained with the pawn shop.
