PETER JUDGE FROM OXFORD CAUGHT WITH OVER 1,600 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND SENTENCED IN COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Oxford, Peter Judge, a 34-year-old man, was found to possess an alarming collection of indecent images of children, including victims as young as six months old.The incident came to light in March 2016 when police executed a search warrant at his residence in Temple Cowley.
Officers entered Judge's home on the morning of March 25, and during the search, they discovered a Toshiba laptop and a PlayStation console, both of which contained a significant number of illegal images.
The police investigation revealed that Judge had been involved in viewing and collecting these images over a period spanning from May 2013 to March 2015.
At the time of the police raid, Judge was not present at his residence.
He was later detained and taken into custody.
During his interview, he admitted to possessing prohibited images of children and making indecent photographs of minors.
He expressed remorse and a desire to undo his actions, stating that he wished he could go back in time to prevent himself from viewing the images.
Judge told Oxford Crown Court that he was unsure why he sought out these images but was concerned about being labeled a paedophile.
In court, Judge Judge chose to represent himself and delivered a heartfelt, if troubling, statement.
He said, “I have never done anything before.
This was the one time I did something and it wasn’t good.
I wish I had a time machine and go back and change it all.” His words reflected a sense of regret, though they did little to mitigate the severity of his actions.
The prosecution, led by Cathy Olliver, outlined the details of the police operation and the evidence found.
She emphasized the gravity of the case, noting that Judge had admitted to possessing over 1,600 indecent images, which included some of the most disturbing content involving infants.
Judge Peter Ross, presiding over the case, condemned the actions and the broader issue of child exploitation.
He stated, “Children are being abused all around the world in order to satisfy the perverted desires of people like you.
It is appalling.” In sentencing, Judge Ross imposed a three-year community order on Judge, which includes a requirement to participate in a sex offenders treatment programme, along with a 60-day rehabilitation activity and additional programmes.
Judge was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
Furthermore, he was placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, mandated to sign the sex offenders register for the same period, and required to pay a victim surcharge.
The court also ordered the seizure and destruction of the devices containing the illegal images to prevent further distribution or access.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Oxford to combat child exploitation and the importance of strict sentencing to protect vulnerable victims from further harm.
