ABERDEEN MAN SENTENCED AND PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER PUB GROPING
A man has been placed on the sex offenders register after he was involved in an incident at a pub in Aberdeen city centre.
The individual, Peter Duncan, 37, from Ash-Hill Drive, Aberdeen, seized and squeezed a woman's right buttock without warning in Slain’s Castle on Belmont Street.
The woman, who was in her 20s and attended the venue with friends in October 2022, was shocked and “froze in shock” after the assault, which left her “extremely upset”.
The incident was reported to the police, and Duncan later pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charge.
During the hearing, his defense attorney, Ian Woodward-Nutt, emphasized that his client was a first-time offender and requested the court to consider the social work report’s recommendations.
Woodward-Nutt also mentioned, “The fact he’s gained a conviction in this matter is, in itself, a significant punishment.” Sheriff Shirley McKenna sentenced Duncan to a six-month supervision order and mandated that he adhere to the notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act for the same period, marking a serious consequence for his actions.
