ABERDEEN OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL PENSIONER ASSAULT
A man named Paul Milne has been sentenced to 31 months in prison after a brutal assault on a 76-year-old pensioner in Aberdeen.The attack occurred during a street argument on March 9, where Milne became aggressive after the victim tried to de-escalate the situation.
The pensioner was physically assaulted in broad daylight, leading to his right eyelid becoming partially detached and requiring surgical repair.
The victim now suffers ongoing effects, including difficulty opening the eye and a permanent scar.
After the assault, Milne fled the scene but was later identified and arrested.
Aside from the assault, Milne also engaged in further criminal activity in the following months, including possession of diamorphine and ketamine, and possession of a knife.
During his court appearance, Milne’s defense explained that he was under the influence of substances and accused his problems to childhood trauma and the breakdown of his marriage, which led to his downfall.
The sheriff expressed hope that Milne would turn his life around and disqualified him from driving for 25 months.
The victim expressed relief that Milne received a sentence but also ongoing concerns about his injuries.
