ABERDEEN MAN ACCUSED OF BRUTAL ASSAULT ON GIRLFRIEND AWAITS SENTENCING
A man from the north-east region, Paul Coates, who assaulted his girlfriend last year, is awaiting his sentencing hearing.During the attack at his residence in Aberdeen, Coates forcibly grabbed Rebecca Crichton by the neck, punched and kicked her, and poured wine over her.
The incident also involved him shouting and swearing at her and throwing her handbag out of a window.
Coates, aged 24 and residing at 29 Hazlehead Terrace, has previously admitted to these offences.
The court had scheduled his sentencing for the day prior, but he failed to meet with social workers to prepare a background report, citing that he had not been notified and had forgotten about the appointment over the festive period.
Sheriff William Taylor decided to give him one more opportunity to cooperate, granting bail but emphasizing that the offence was serious and warning him to comply with court instructions.
