MICHAEL EVANS FROM ABERDEEN CAUGHT STALKING TEENAGE GIRLS NEAR SCHOOL
In May 2015, a disturbing case emerged involving Michael Evans, a known sex offender from Aberdeen, who was caught engaging in highly inappropriate and concerning behavior near a local school. The incident drew significant attention to Evans' troubling history of sexual misconduct and his persistent pattern of preying on young girls in the community.
According to reports from Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Evans, aged 48 at the time, was observed repeatedly driving past Banchory Academy in his car over a period of nearly a month.
His purpose appeared to be to observe teenage girls in their school uniforms, which he found sexually stimulating.
The court heard that during this period, Evans would cruise past the school, often during the hours when students were arriving or leaving, in an apparent attempt to stalk the teenagers.
Two young girls, who became aware of Evans' suspicious and unsettling behavior, expressed their fear and alarm at his actions.
Their distress was compounded by the fact that Evans' behavior was persistent and targeted, causing genuine concern for their safety and well-being.
The court was informed that this pattern of behavior took place in February of that year, and it was only when the victims became aware of his presence that they felt threatened and frightened.
In light of these events, Evans faced legal proceedings and was ordered to remain at his residence at Lower Broomhill, Torphins, Banchory, for a two-year period.
This restriction was part of a curfew imposed by Sheriff William Taylor, who also sentenced Evans to carry out 70 hours of unpaid community service within the next nine months.
The court's decision was a close call, as Evans had previously served two prison sentences for sexual offenses, and this latest incident underscored his ongoing risk to the community.
Evans had previously admitted to causing fear and alarm among schoolgirls for his own sexual gratification, which was a key factor in the court's sentencing.
His criminal history is extensive and troubling.
In 1995, Evans was removed from the dental register after a disciplinary body found that he had administered excessive sedatives to five women at his practices in Banchory and Fraserburgh.
The disciplinary panel also found that he indecently assaulted four women, including an 11-year-old girl, her mother, and a pregnant woman.
Despite these serious allegations, Evans initially denied the accusations, even though he had been jailed the year before for sexually assaulting one of the complainants.
He claimed that the sedatives he administered “must have affected their minds” and insisted that his assistants were present during the alleged incidents.
The women testified that Evans would slide his hands inside their underwear while they were under the influence of sedatives, which he had reportedly doubled in dosage.
These disturbing allegations further highlighted his pattern of predatory behavior.
In 2006, Evans was placed on probation for two years after admitting to public indecency in a car park.
His criminal record grew more severe in 2011 when he was sentenced to two years in prison for taking indecent photographs and videos of schoolgirls using his mobile phone.
The court heard that Evans was motivated by sexual fantasies, particularly involving school uniforms and the legs of young girls.
His actions came to light after a parent walking children to Mile End Primary School in Aberdeen noticed Evans following the students.
When police examined his mobile device, they discovered 21 photographs and five videos of girls aged between 10 and 18.
During the 2011 court proceedings, solicitor advocate Gail Goodfellow, representing Evans, stated that he was employed as a cabinet maker and had a wife and two children who supported him.
She explained that more than half of the photographs depicted girls in school uniforms walking to secondary school, with the rest taken at a local funfair.
Ms.
Goodfellow emphasized that Evans’ offenses were driven by sexual fantasy, particularly related to school uniforms and legs, and that he was on the sex offenders register until 2021.
Overall, the case against Michael Evans paints a disturbing picture of a man with a long history of sexual misconduct and predatory behavior, whose actions have repeatedly caused fear and alarm among young girls and the wider community in Aberdeen and surrounding areas.
