November 2012 Skelmersdale man with thousands of indecent images of children given suspended jail sentence A Skelmersdale man found to have more than 4,000 indecent images of children was given a suspended prison sentence this week. A court heard on Wednesday, November 21 that in January Michael Davenport came to the attention of CEOP, the child exploitation protection agency, and Lancashire police officers went to his home. He was asked if he had child porn images and he admitted that he did on his computer, said Peter Barr, prosecuting. His computer equipment was seized and analysed and it was found he had downloaded a total of 4,452 images. The majority were in the lowest category but there were some in each of the five categories. 48-year-old Davenport, of Thurlston, Skelmersdale, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to 16 offences of possessing indecent images. Sentencing him to six months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordering him to attend an internet sex offenders treatment programme Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, said that his frank admission of guilt meant he was halfway to realising he had a problem. He also ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and pay £500 prosecution costs. The judge additionally imposed a seven year Sexual Offences Prevention Order restricting his internet use.
