SAMUEL BROWN FROM SKELMERSDALE FACES JAIL AFTER CHILD GROOMING CASE IN LIVERPOOL
In a serious development at Liverpool Crown Court, Samuel Brown, a 24-year-old man from Skelmersdale, was confronted with the gravity of his actions as he appeared before the judge to admit to charges related to child grooming. Brown, who was visibly walking with a stick during the court proceedings, pleaded guilty to three counts of attempting to cause or incite a girl, aged between 14 and 15, to engage in sexual activity. These offenses spanned a period from March 1 to December 19, 2015, and involved the use of social media messaging to communicate with the underage girl.Prosecutor Andrew Ford outlined that the criminal conduct involved Brown sending Facebook messages to the young girl, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons. The messages formed part of an ongoing course of conduct that lasted approximately eight months, during which Brown sought to manipulate and exploit the girl for sexual purposes. The court was told that Brown's actions were serious enough to warrant significant legal attention, and the charges he faced reflected the severity of his conduct.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Brown, who resides at Burncroft in Skelmersdale, has no prior criminal record. Despite his criminal charges, he is described as a family man, with recent life events including the birth of a child just last week, a detail that added a layer of complexity to the case. The court heard that Brown was visibly emotional, wiping away tears as Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, issued a stern warning. The judge stated, “The offences to which you have pleaded guilty carry substantial sentences of imprisonment,” emphasizing the seriousness of the crimes.
Following his admission of guilt, Brown was remanded on bail until the sentencing hearing scheduled for the following Monday. In addition to the bail, the court ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register in the interim, a standard procedure in cases involving sexual offenses against minors. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judiciary to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predatory behavior.
