SAMUEL BROWN FROM SKELMERSDALE JAILED FOR PREDATORY BEHAVIOR TOWARD TEENAGE GIRL
In January 2017, a disturbing case emerged involving Samuel Brown, a 24-year-old man from Glebe Road in Skelmersdale, who was convicted of targeting a 15-year-old girl with predatory and manipulative behavior over a period of six months at the end of 2015.Brown initially established a seemingly friendly relationship with the girl’s parents, which he used as a means to gain her trust. Once he had made inroads into her family’s circle, he began a relentless campaign of harassment and exploitation directed at the young teenager. Despite her repeated refusals to engage with his inappropriate advances, Brown persisted in his efforts to lure her into sexual acts.
He communicated with her extensively through phone calls and social media platforms, sending dozens of explicit messages that were designed to coerce and intimidate her. Brown also made direct visits to her home, where he made inappropriate requests and tried to persuade her to accompany him on delivery jobs, with the hope that she would comply with his sexual demands.
The victim, however, consistently resisted his advances and refused to engage in any illicit activity. Her courage to confide in her parents about the ongoing harassment proved crucial. Once her parents were informed, they immediately contacted the police, leading to Brown’s swift arrest.
During the court proceedings, Brown pleaded guilty to three charges of causing or inciting a girl aged 15 to engage in sexual activity with an offender over the age of 18. The other two charges against him were left on file. His guilty plea resulted in a reduced prison sentence of 18 months, down from the original 20 months.
In addition to his imprisonment, Brown was subjected to a series of court orders designed to protect the victim and prevent further offenses. These included a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the girl, a sexual harm prevention order, and a requirement to register as a sex offender for the next ten years. The court’s actions underscore the seriousness of his predatory conduct and the community’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable minors from such threats.
