ABERDEEN PILOT MICHAEL ANDERSON ESCAPES JAIL AFTER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SCANDAL
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen, Michael Anderson, a helicopter pilot with ties to the city, was found to possess an alarming collection of indecent images of children.Despite the gravity of the charges, Anderson, aged 62, was spared imprisonment and instead received a court order mandating his participation in the Joint Sex Offenders’ Programme.
The charges against Anderson stemmed from a period spanning nearly seven years, from October 3, 2003, to April 21, 2010.
During this time, at an address in Aberdeen, he was found to have taken, permitted, or facilitated the creation of numerous indecent photographs and videos involving minors.
The evidence presented indicated that Anderson had accumulated a staggering total of approximately 35,000 such images, a number that underscores the severity of his offending.
During the court proceedings, Anderson admitted to the offences, which involved not only the possession but also the creation of indecent material depicting children.
His defense lawyer, David Sutherland, emphasized Anderson’s remorse, stating that his client had shown “clear shame, and disgust at himself” for his actions.
