ABERDEEN MAN ORDERED TO PAY £1,000 AFTER SEX ASSAULT AT PUB
A man named Martyn Anderson has been convicted of sexual assault in an Aberdeen pub and ordered to pay his victim £1,000 in compensation.
Anderson, an offshore worker, committed the offence while celebrating a birthday in The Hayloft on Portland Street.
During the event, Anderson thought he was joking when he placed his hand inside a woman's dress and touched her bottom.
The incident was recorded in a photograph, showing Anderson smirking and appearing proud of his actions.
The woman, who was on a chair to take a picture with her friends, felt Anderson's hand under her dress and saw him close to her afterward but chose not to cause a scene.
She later disclosed she was distressed and informed her parents.
Anderson expressed remorse through his lawyer, stating he had been drinking excessively and intended his actions as a joke which backfired.
He pleaded guilty to sexual assault, and Sheriff Sean Lynch imposed a 12-month supervision order, placed him on the sex offenders register for 12 months, and mandated he pay compensation.
