MARTIN MCBRIDE'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN PAISLEY AND CARLISLE REVEALED
In May 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Martin McBride, a 20-year-old man whose actions have shocked the local communities of Paisley and Carlisle.McBride was accused of subjecting multiple young women to a barrage of vile and threatening messages, including explicit images and disturbing threats, over a period spanning from June 2017 to September of the same year.
McBride's targeted victims were former pupils of Paisley Grammar School, and his behavior was characterized by relentless harassment through social media platforms.
He used various fake profiles, including one under the alias Michael Van Fritz, to carry out his malicious activities.
The court heard that McBride’s actions extended beyond mere messaging; he sent explicit selfies to at least six women, all of whom knew him personally.
One of the most alarming aspects of the case involved a woman who received a private photo from McBride, which she did not realize was from him until two months later.
She responded with a message expressing her speechlessness, unaware of the sender’s true identity.
Subsequently, she received multiple further images and messages from a Facebook account under the name Paul Robertson, which was linked to McBride.
These messages included derogatory comments about her appearance, such as: “Why do you show off your massive t**s so much?” McBride’s threatening behavior escalated significantly.
He called one woman 41 times in a single evening, and when she failed to respond, he became aggressive, sending a message that read: “Answer me, you f****** anorexic midget.” He also sent her a picture of himself exposing his genitals and made disturbing threats, including: “Your only place in this world is on your knees.” Further, McBride sent her a video depicting soldiers being burned alive and threatened to harm her family, stating: “I will slit your mum’s throat.” His threats culminated in a chilling declaration: “I am going to rape and kill each and every one of you.” These heinous acts prompted the authorities to take action.
During a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, McBride admitted to the harassment and was subsequently placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Sheriff Seith Ireland ordered background checks and a risk assessment before determining his sentence.
The court was informed that McBride’s offenses were committed from his former residence on Stockholm Crescent in Paisley and his current home in Carlisle.
As the case proceeds, McBride faces the possibility of a prison sentence of up to 12 months when he returns to court next month to learn his fate.
The case has left a lasting impact on the victims and highlights the dangers of online harassment and threats, especially when combined with physical intimidation and exposure.
