MARK INGRAM OF ABERDEEN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND HARASSMENT
In March 2016, Mark Ingram, a 33-year-old man from Mastrick Road, Aberdeen, was sentenced to 26 months in prison at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after being convicted on multiple charges involving sexual assault and harassment.Ingram pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman on December 11, 2013, in an area known as ‘The Woodies’ between Broomhill Road and Broomhill Terrace.
The victim, who was returning home on a bus from the city center and had called her husband for safety, was touched without consent—feeling a hand touching her hand and neck.
Ingram admitted that he had seized her by the head and neck, grabbed her by the body, and touched her through her clothes.
The woman shouted for help, exclaiming, “the guy has grabbed me.” During the incident, Ingram ran away but headed directly toward her husband, who then struck Ingram in the face.
Ingram managed to break free, leaving behind his jacket, which was later examined by police for forensic evidence.
Additionally, Ingram admitted to acts of threatening or abusive behavior on October 31, 2014, and February 27, 2015, which involved following teenage girls and mimicking a sex act.
Court disclosures indicated that Ingram expressed deep remorse, stating he wanted to apologize profusely to his victim and was “absolutely appalled by his behaviour.” It was also noted that his mental health was poor at the time of the incidents.
The court sentenced Ingram to 20 months for the sexual assault charge and an additional three months for the subsequent incidents.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years.
