March 2016 Man jailed for groping woman, following school girls and simulating sex act An Aberdeen man has been jailed for more than two years after groping a woman on her way home and following school girls. Mark Ingram, 33, of Mastrick Road, Aberdeen was given a 26-month sentence for the string of charges at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday. The father-of-two admitted to sexually assaulting a woman on December 11, 2013 in area known as ‘The Woodies’ between Broomhill Road and Broomhill Terrace. The court heard that the woman had caught the bus home from the city centre and had phoned her husband to keep an eye out for her as she did not like walking the area alone at night. The woman felt a hand touching the side of her hand and neck and Ingram admitted to seizing her by the head and neck, grabbing her by the body and touching her through her clothes. Ingram’s victim shouted for help and was heard shouting “the guy has grabbed me”. The court heard how Ingram then ran away but straight towards the woman’s husband. He struck Ingram in the face, but Ingram managed to break free leaving his jacket which was later forensically examined by police. Ingram also admitted to acting in a threatening or abusive manner on October 31, 2014 and February 27, 2015 towards teenage girls including following them and simulating a sex act. The court was told that Ingram wanted to make a profuse apology to his victim and was “absolutely appalled by his behaviour”. His mental health had been poor at the time of the incidents. Ingram was given a 20 months for the first charge and three months for the following two incidents, dating back to February 16. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
