MANTAS GERVETAUSKAS SHOCKS ABERDEEN WITH BRUTAL DRUNKEN ASSAULT AT PRIVATE EYES

A married man and father of two, Mantas Gervetauskas, has admitted to a terrifying and violent assault that took place at the Private Eyes strip club in Aberdeen during 2019. The incident involved Gervetauskas, who was heavily intoxicated at the time, physically attacking a dancer in a manner that endangered her life and left her unconscious. The assault was so severe that it prompted serious legal consequences and drew significant attention from the court system.

Following the incident, Gervetauskas returned to his native Lithuania, leaving behind the scene of the crime in Aberdeen. Despite his physical absence, his legal representatives sought to resolve the case through a plea deal, requesting that the sheriff handle the matter in his absence with a fine and compensation. However, Sheriff Morag McLaughlin was not convinced that such a lenient approach was appropriate given the gravity of the assault. She emphasized that the assault was so serious that a custodial sentence was a real possibility, especially considering the extent of the injuries inflicted on the victim.

On November 7, 2019, Gervetauskas appeared before the court to admit guilt to charges of assault causing injury and risking the victim’s life. Court documents detailed how he had pushed the dancer, restrained her physically, and repeatedly seized and compressed her neck, actions that severely restricted her breathing and caused her to lose consciousness. The court also noted an additional allegation of sexual assault—specifically, touching her breast and making repeated attempts to kiss her—though the Crown accepted a plea of not guilty on that particular charge.

Gervetauskas’s defense lawyer, Liam McAllister, argued that his client, a Lithuanian national who had been living in the UK for several years with his wife and children, had since made efforts to turn his life around. McAllister explained that Gervetauskas had lost his employment following the incident, returned to Lithuania, and started a new business there. The lawyer also highlighted that Gervetauskas had struggled with alcohol addiction but had since sought help through Alcoholics Anonymous and completed a rehabilitation program, leading to his sobriety.

Despite these positive developments, the sheriff maintained that the severity of the assault warranted consideration of custody. She pointed out that the attack had restricted the victim’s breathing and caused her to lose consciousness, which underscored the seriousness of the offense. The sheriff suggested that Gervetauskas may have left the country because he was aware of the potential for a custodial sentence and the gravity of the charges against him. As a result, the court deferred sentencing for a period of two weeks, requiring Gervetauskas to be personally present at the next hearing. The case ultimately underscores the dangerous nature of the assault and the court’s focus on the importance of protecting individuals from such violent acts.
