ABERDEEN MAN FINED FOR VIOLENT ATTACK AND KNIFE POSSESSION
A man who violently assaulted his mother and was subsequently found in public possession of a knife in Aberdeen has received a fine from the court.Maksims Proskurins, aged 21, physically attacked his mother by punching her in the head after she refused his demand to use her mobile phone on October 3, 2019.
Later the same day, he was discovered with a knife on a street in the Kittybrewster neighborhood of Aberdeen.
The Aberdeen Sheriff Court was informed that Proskurins had been ordered by the court to stay away from his mother's residence but defied this order less than a month later.
During his sentencing hearing yesterday, Proskurins admitted to breaching his bail conditions on January 17 and February 1 of the previous year.
He also confessed to acting threatening or abusive towards his mother, causing her fear and alarm, and physically assaulting her by punching her in the head.
Furthermore, he admitted to stealing her mobile phone and being in possession of a knife on the street that day.
In his defense, his legal representative, Liam McAllister, stated that Proskurins had been attempting to turn his life around and had recently gained employment.
The court sentenced him to a community payback order with 12 months of supervision and imposed a fine of £260.
Sheriff Janys Scott warned Proskurins that if he failed to comply with the order, he could face a custodial sentence upon return to court.
This case highlights ongoing issues with violent behavior and breaches of court orders.
