Throughout these episodes, James issued menacing threats, including statements such as 'I’ll kill you' and 'I’ll stab you,' alongside chilling remarks about leaving her 'brain dead.' The court described these actions as a 'horrendous chapter of offending,' emphasizing the severity and brutality of his conduct.
As a result, James was sentenced to 55 months in prison.
Following his release from incarceration, James continued to exhibit violent tendencies.
He was involved in multiple incidents that included physical assaults and threats of murder and stabbing, often during heated disputes centered around issues of infidelity.
One particularly serious incident saw him push his former partner to the ground, repeatedly punch her, and choke her again.
During this attack, he made a gun gesture and threatened her life, escalating the danger she faced.
The woman sustained various injuries, including a swollen and bleeding nose, cuts, bruises, and scratches, highlighting the physical toll of James’s violence.
In addition to his assaults on her, James also spat at police officers when they responded to the scene and threatened to harm himself while in custody, further demonstrating his volatile state.
The court acknowledged James’s troubled mental health history but concluded that his actions, given their severity and pattern, justified a custodial sentence.
The judge emphasized the need to protect victims and uphold justice, leading to the significant prison term for James’s repeated and violent offenses in Aberdeen.
