WOMAN SENTENCED FOR PERSISTENT HARASSMENT AND THREATS TO EX-LOVER
A woman identified as Louise Fraser has been found guilty of obsessively harassing her former partner through a series of abusive messages and calls over several months. The court heard that Fraser’s angry reactions following the end of her relationship in July 2019 led her to make numerous phone calls to her ex-girlfriend.
She also sent countless texts, online messages, and emails during a six-month period, which caused her victim to block her from social media channels.
The harassment escalated to threats of violence delivered via voicemail, aggressive behavior, and Fraser’s refusal to leave her ex’s residence.
Furthermore, Fraser was accused of blocking the woman from leaving a room and refusing to vacate her property.
The victim received abusive voicemail messages from Fraser between July 2019 and January 2020.
Since February 2020, Fraser has been under bail conditions not to contact her ex-girlfriend.
She also appeared in court early last year and was subjected to a criminal justice social work report.
During the court hearing, her defense solicitor, Liam McAllister, highlighted Fraser’s positive steps, such as maintaining employment, engaging with psychiatric services, and reducing alcohol consumption, suggesting she had taken time to reflect on her actions.
The court was informed that both parties had moved on, with Fraser adhering to bail conditions and not making any contact.
The sheriff credited Fraser for taking responsibility and addressing the causes of her offenses, stating she was unlikely to appear before the court again.
Ultimately, she was fined £640 and placed under a two-year non-harassment order.
