ABERDEEN WOMAN SENTENCED FOR TAXI ATTACK ON PARTNER
A woman named Lorraine McAra was involved in a violent incident while in a taxi, where she carried out a sustained assault on her partner by punching him up to 30 times and attempting to bite him.The incident occurred after a night out in the Hay Loft pub in Aberdeen, during which McAra argued with her boyfriend over his social activities.
The court heard that she repeatedly struck and kicked her partner, trying to bite him all over his body.
The taxi driver, shocked by the attack, called the police.
McAra pleaded guilty to assault by repeatedly punching and kicking her partner and attempting to bite him on January 29 of the same year.
The taxi driver reported that she punched her partner about 20 to 30 times and shouted at him before punching him in the head and body with both hands.
She then exited the taxi, jumped back in and punched him again before finally leaving on foot, after which the taxi driver called the police.
Her defense lawyer stated she was 'completely mortified' by her behavior and could not remember much due to alcohol consumption, claiming it was a 'one-off'.
The sheriff described her behavior as 'really terrible' and expressed hope to never see her in court again.
She was sentenced to a one-year community payback order and ordered to complete 40 hours of unpaid work.
