KRISTOPHER LUKE SHOCKS ABERDEEN WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL AT HOUSE PARTY
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Aberdeen, Kristopher Luke, a 29-year-old man, was involved in a serious sexual assault incident involving a young girl at a private gathering. The incident occurred on the evening of January 26, 2018, during a party hosted by the parents of the seven-year-old victim.
The court proceedings revealed harrowing details of the events that unfolded that night, leading to Luke’s eventual guilty plea and sentencing.
According to court records, the party was attended by several adults, including Luke, with most of the guests consuming alcohol throughout the evening.
The victim, who was asleep in her bedroom at the time, was unaware of the events that would soon transpire.
It was during this period that Luke entered her room and engaged in inappropriate touching, an act that the young girl later reported to her parents.
The girl had woken up to find Luke sitting on her bed and, distressed, asked him what was happening.
Shortly after, Luke left the room claiming he was not feeling well and exited the scene.
The following day, the young girl confided in her parents about what had occurred.
Her parents, alarmed and distressed, contacted the police to report the incident.
Initially, Luke responded to police inquiries with a refusal to comment, choosing silence during his first interview.
However, as investigations continued, he eventually confessed to the assault, citing an overwhelming sense of guilt as his motivation for revealing the truth.
During the court hearing, Sheriff Jack Brown addressed the gravity of the offense, emphasizing the seriousness of sexual assault involving a minor.
Luke appeared in Aberdeen Sheriff Court to face the charges, which he had pled guilty to earlier.
The sheriff acknowledged Luke’s early acceptance of responsibility but also highlighted the importance of appropriate sentencing to reflect the severity of the crime.
In his sentencing remarks, Sheriff Brown ordered Luke to undergo three years of supervised probation.
As part of this supervision, Luke is required to participate in the 'Moving Forward, Making Changes' program, aimed at rehabilitation.
Additionally, he will be subject to the notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act for the duration of the supervision order.
The court also imposed a restriction of liberty order, which mandates that Luke remain at his residence in Grandholm Court, Aberdeen, from 7 pm to 7 am for a period of four months.
Furthermore, he was sentenced to perform 200 hours of unpaid community service.
Prosecutor Jamie Dunbar provided further context, explaining that the incident took place during a social gathering where alcohol was widely consumed by the adults present.
The victim, after waking up in her bed, encountered Luke in her room, an encounter that she later described to her parents.
The court was told that Luke left the scene shortly after the incident, claiming he was unwell.
The following day, the victim disclosed the assault to her parents, prompting police involvement.
During his arrest and subsequent police interview, Luke initially maintained silence, refusing to comment.
It was only after being confronted by his then-partner that he admitted to the offense, stating that he wanted to confess because he could not handle the guilt.
His defense lawyer indicated that further background reports on Luke would be necessary before final sentencing.
Sheriff Brown warned that custody was a strong consideration given the nature of the crime and confirmed that Luke would remain subject to the Sexual Offences Act notification requirements.
