ABERDEEN PERVERT KOYES MIH AVOIDS JAIL DESPITE SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRLS
In a recent case that has sparked outrage and disappointment, Koyes Miah, a 29-year-old man from Aberdeen, has avoided imprisonment despite being convicted of multiple serious offences involving underage girls.Miah, who previously held the position of manager at Taste of India in Westhill, was sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after a trial that revealed a disturbing pattern of misconduct.
His crimes, committed between September and November 2017 at an address within Aberdeen, included three counts of sexually assaulting girls under the age of 16 by touching them over their clothing.
In addition to these assaults, Miah was found guilty of providing alcohol or making alcohol available to minors under 16, a serious offence given the vulnerability of the victims involved.
The court also convicted him of two charges related to asking girls under 16 questions of a sexual nature, further highlighting the predatory nature of his actions.
One of the victims, a young woman who cannot be named for legal reasons, bravely spoke out about her experience and her feelings following the sentencing.
She described her ordeal as "horrible," recounting how the trauma triggered intense flashbacks and made it difficult for her to trust others.
Her words reflected the deep emotional scars left by Miah’s actions, and she expressed her disappointment that he was not sentenced to prison.
"It’s very unfair considering everything I went through, and he’s not getting any jail time at all," she said.
She also voiced her opinion on what she believed would have been a more appropriate punishment, suggesting that Miah should have received a sentence of “a couple of years” behind bars.
Her primary concern remains preventing similar incidents from happening to others, emphasizing the importance of justice and protection for vulnerable young people.
"I don’t want this to happen to anybody else," she added.
In response to her message, she offered words of encouragement for others who might find themselves in comparable situations, urging them to stay strong and not to see themselves solely as victims.
"Be strong, and don’t be a victim," she advised.
Koyes Miah, who resides on Great Northern Road in Aberdeen, was convicted after a trial that uncovered his involvement in these heinous acts.
Despite the gravity of his offences, the court’s decision to impose only unpaid work has been met with widespread criticism, raising questions about the adequacy of sentencing for crimes of this nature.
