ABERDEEN MAN THREATENS TO BURN DOWN EX-GIRLFRIEND'S HOUSE
Kieran Monro, an individual from Springhill Terrace, was involved in a series of abusive behaviors towards his ex-girlfriend.The incident escalated when after being dumped due to his alleged controlling behavior, he threatened to set fire to her house.
Following their two-year relationship, Monro visited her Aberdeen home uninvited twice within a week and attempted to enter.
Just hours after their breakup, on October 19, he chased her through her residence and grabbed her in the garden, pulling her back inside, while claiming he had not been taking his medications.
Several days later, he sent her abusive messages, calling her a "slut" and implying he knew she was seeking emergency contraception.
When asked to collect his belongings, Monro refused to stay outside as instructed, instead going around to the rear door and banging on windows and doors.
During this episode, he threatened to burn down her house, prompting her to flee with her daughter for safety and seek refuge with neighbors before contacting the police.
Monro appeared at the Aberdeen Sheriff Court, representing himself, and admitted engaging in a course of abusive behavior towards his partner.
The court hearing was adjourned, and the sentence was deferred until the following month to allow for background reports and an assessment for a possible restriction of liberty order.
The judge also advised Monro to consider appointing a solicitor for his next court appearance.
