JORDAN DE LA MARE FROM ABERDEEN FACES JAIL FOR DOWNLOAD OF CHILD IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local community, Jordan De la Mare, a resident of Aberdeen, has been found guilty of possessing an extensive collection of child sexual abuse images. The conviction was handed down at Airdrie Sheriff Court after a detailed trial that revealed the disturbing extent of his activities.
De la Mare, aged 28, was identified as having downloaded approximately 25,000 indecent images of children over a span of nearly a decade, from 2005 to 2014.
The court heard that these images were stored on his personal computer, which he used at his home in Whinhall.
The evidence presented during the three-day trial indicated that De la Mare either took or allowed images to be taken, or made, at his residence, contributing to the disturbing nature of the case.
The jury, after careful deliberation, returned a majority verdict finding De la Mare guilty of the charges.
The court's proceedings highlighted the prolonged period during which he engaged in these illegal activities, raising serious concerns about his potential risk to children.
Sheriff Morag Galbraith, presiding over the case, decided to defer sentencing until January 20.
This decision was made to allow for the preparation of comprehensive reports, including a criminal justice social work assessment and an evaluation of the risk De la Mare may pose to children in the future.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to address and combat child exploitation and abuse.
