ABERDEEN MAN SENT TERRIFYING TEXTS TO FAMILY, COURT HEARS
A man named James Thouless was involved in frightening incidents where he sent threatening messages to his own family members.
He communicated terrifying WhatsApp messages to his mother and brother, where he threatened to harm other relatives with a knife and told one, “I’m coming, c***.” Following these messages, Thouless climbed over a wall to his mother's residence and smashed a window.
During the court hearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, it was revealed that Thouless was experiencing increased drug and alcohol use and feelings of isolation, which contributed to his actions.
His solicitor explained that he had recently lost a friend and was feeling increasingly cut off from his family—possibly for the best.
Sheriff Lesley Johnston described Thouless' conduct as “nasty incidents” that likely caused alarm to his family and advised him to address his underlying issues.
Instead of a prison sentence, she sentenced him to a community payback order with supervision for 12 months and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
