ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER JAIMON MATHEW SPARED JAIL IN SHOCKING COURT DECISION

In a highly controversial ruling at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Jaimon Mathew, a 50-year-old man from Rowan Road, was spared a prison sentence despite being convicted of sexually assaulting five young girls.

The court proceedings, which took place in September 2019, revealed disturbing details about Mathew’s actions and the reactions of the victims' families, highlighting a sense of injustice felt by many in the community.

Mathew was found guilty of multiple instances of molestation involving five girls, all of whom were in their mid-teens at the time of the assaults.

The incidents occurred over a period stretching from June 2018 to March of the following year.

During these encounters, he engaged in inappropriate touching, fondling, and squeezing over their clothing on various occasions.

The court heard that his actions left lasting scars on the victims, who are now young women.

Despite the gravity of the convictions, Sheriff Ian Wallace sentenced Mathew to a relatively lenient punishment.

He was ordered to register as a sex offender for 18 months, required to complete 250 hours of unpaid community service, and placed under an 18-month supervision order.

The decision sparked outrage among the victims' families, who felt that justice had not been served.

One mother, who requested anonymity for legal reasons, expressed her deep disappointment outside the court.

She stated, “He’s guilty of sexually assaulting five kids and they let him off to go and do community service in public.

I wanted to see some sort of jail sentence so he had time to think over his actions.” Her words reflected a widespread sentiment that the punishment was insufficient.

Adding to the community’s concern was the fact that Mathew continued to deny his guilt during court proceedings.

The court was informed that he maintained his innocence and even described himself as “a victim,” despite the evidence presented against him.

The mother of his youngest victim voiced her fears that without a custodial sentence, Mathew would not change his behavior.

She revealed that her young daughter still becomes emotional and tears up when recalling the traumatic experience.

During the sentencing, Sheriff Wallace was unequivocal in his rejection of Mathew’s explanations.

He stated, “I do not accept any of your explanation for your actions.

You are simply not telling the truth.” The court’s decision to avoid imprisonment has left many feeling that justice has been undermined, raising questions about the adequacy of the punishment for such serious offenses in Aberdeen.
