ABERDEEN MAN CONVICTED AFTER THREATENING EX-GIRLFRIEND WITH A KNIFE AND CAUSING CHAOS IN PUBLIC
A man named Jaie Cowie was involved in a series of violent incidents in Aberdeen. CCTV footage captured Cowie exiting a BMW and threatening an unknown male with a large knife, which led to him being stabbed in the back during a confrontation. Later, Cowie found his former partner at Stockethill Court and attempted to seize her with the knife, involving her friends and bystanders in the altercation. Cowie was seen dressed in black, brandishing a knife, and engaging in threatening behavior towards his ex-girlfriend, repeatedly trying to attack her and show the weapon. After the incident, Cowie was treated for a stab wound to his back at the hospital. He was arrested four days later and admitted to police that he was in an agitated state and described her as making him 'crazy.' Cowie pleaded guilty in court to charges of assault, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and threatening or abusive behavior with a knife. His defense argued that the incident was out of character, caused by him being a victim of a serious assault and being in an extreme state of agitation. The sheriff showed concern but noted Cowie’s limited criminal record and no previous weapons violence. He sentenced Cowie to a community payback order with supervision for two years, ordered participation in a domestic abuse program, imposed a four-month restriction of liberty order, and required him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
