WEDDING GUEST AND DOMESTIC ABUSER HAS COURT OUTBURST AFTER DRUNKEN ASSAULT
A violent wedding guest, identified as Hasan Goz, who was detained and taken away in handcuffs after consuming excessive alcohol and assaulting his partner, has expressed remorse in court. The Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told that Goz, aged 43, caused concern when he drank alcohol "he wouldn’t normally touch" during the wedding meal and involved himself in an altercation with his partner over her conversation with someone he disapproved of.
The incident escalated when Goz was asked by his partner to leave the wedding near Ythanbank on July 1, following an argument.
Despite exiting, he reappeared in the garden area and was heard shouting before approaching and slapping his partner in the face.
Witnesses followed him and called the police, who later located him walking down the driveway.
Goz admitted to a charge of domestic assault.
His defense argued that he was intoxicated and acting out of character due to the wine he drank for the first time, despite usually only drinking beer, which "doesn't agree with him." Goz, a barber from King Street, Peterhead, has a prior conviction from September 2020 for threatening and abusive behavior towards his partner.
Sheriff Andrew Miller sentenced him to nine months of supervision with social workers and ordered him to participate in any programs they deemed necessary.
Goz has publicly apologized for his behavior, and the court noted concerns about his potential to offend again in future relationships.
