HAMILTON MAN GRAHAM FINDLAY SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES IN HAMILTON AND GLASGOW
In a case that has shocked the community of Hamilton and the surrounding areas, Graham Findlay, a 33-year-old man from Hamilton, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of eight years after being convicted of heinous sexual crimes. The offenses include the brutal rape of a 14-year-old girl at a residence in Hamilton, which occurred in August 2016, as well as additional charges related to indecent communication and sexual activity with another teenage girl in Glasgow in 2015.Findlay’s trial took place at the High Court in Glasgow, where the jury found him guilty of all charges. He had previously denied the allegations, but the evidence presented in court was compelling enough to secure his conviction. The court heard that the attack on the 14-year-old girl was particularly egregious, and the judge, Michael O’Grady QC, did not hold back in condemning Findlay’s actions.
Judge O’Grady described the crimes as “despicable” and emphasized the severity of Findlay’s conduct. In his remarks, he stated, “It is a statement of the obvious that you have been convicted of an appalling course of conduct. It is abundantly clear that you have a predilection to prey on young women. You accept no responsibility and show no remorse.” The judge’s words underscored the gravity of the offenses and the need for a strong custodial sentence to protect the community.
Following his conviction, Findlay was sentenced to eight years in prison. The court also ordered that he be subject to supervision for an additional two years after his release, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his behavior and potential risk to the public. The case has garnered significant attention in Hamilton, highlighting ongoing concerns about safeguarding vulnerable young individuals from predatory behavior.
