SEAN TIMLIN'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN HAMILTON: PREDATOR SENT VIDEOS AND PICTURES OF 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hamilton, a young man named Sean Timlin has been sentenced to four years in prison after engaging in heinous acts involving a 10-year-old girl from the north of England. The gravity of his crimes was revealed during a court hearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court, where details of his sickening behavior were laid bare.Timlin, now 20 years old and residing on Farm Terrace in Hamilton, was found guilty of coercing the young girl into performing sexual acts on multiple occasions between October and December 2015. His actions came to light after the girl’s mother discovered inappropriate messages on her daughter’s phone, prompting an investigation that uncovered a pattern of abuse.
The court heard that Timlin had initially befriended the girl through an online gaming platform. Under the guise of a teenage identity, he claimed to be 17 years old, despite knowing her real age. The prosecutor, Michael McIntosh, explained that Timlin told the girl he was 17 and that he did not care about her being only 10. The two began exchanging messages, and the girl stored his contact information under a pseudonym, “Alysha,” to avoid suspicion from her mother.
Over a period of intense communication via text, WhatsApp, and Kik Messenger, the conversations gradually turned sexual in nature. Timlin repeatedly asked the girl to send explicit images of herself, which she did, initially sending pictures of her naked breasts. In return, he sent her images and videos of himself masturbating. The court was shown evidence of these exchanges, which included graphic language and explicit content.
Further into their communication, Timlin encouraged the girl to record videos of herself performing sexual acts. She recalled sending him approximately nine or ten such videos. Despite her concerns about her mother possibly noticing something, Timlin urged her to proceed with phrases like “Just do it,” “Come on baby,” “It will be ok,” and “Trust me.”
Police investigations revealed even more disturbing evidence. When officers searched Timlin’s residence, they discovered 23 indecent photographs of the girl, all apparently taken by her, along with 19 explicit videos. Additionally, dozens of indecent images of girls as young as three years old were found on various electronic devices. There was also evidence indicating that Timlin had shared images with other individuals involved in similar criminal activities, including one of the 10-year-old girl, although not an indecent image.
Timlin’s criminal behavior extended beyond the explicit exchanges. He admitted to downloading and sharing indecent images of children, which further compounded his charges. The court was told that his actions had a devastating impact on the young victim, with Sheriff Alasdair MacFadyen emphasizing the psychological harm inflicted by such conduct on a child of her age.
During the hearing, Timlin’s defense attorney, Andy Iles, acknowledged that his client was a first-time offender and expressed that the crimes had caused significant distress to his family. Nonetheless, Sheriff MacFadyen concluded that the severity of the offenses warranted a custodial sentence. Timlin was remanded in custody until April 17, and he was also placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Prosecutor McIntosh highlighted that the investigation also uncovered evidence of Timlin sharing images with other paedophiles, including one of the young girl, though not an indecent image. The case underscores the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilance among parents and guardians to protect children from predators lurking in digital spaces.
