HAMILTON FOOTBALL HOOLIGAN SCOTT NOTMAN CAUGHT IN PAEDOPHILE HUNTER STING AT FIR PARK
In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the Hamilton community, 47-year-old football hooligan Scott Notman was caught in a sting operation conducted by a paedophile hunting group. The incident unfolded after Notman was found attempting to meet an underage girl through online communication, raising serious concerns about his intentions and associations.Notman, who is known locally as a member of the notorious Saturday Service casual gang, was ordered to remove a T-shirt that prominently displayed links to this group. The shirt bore the name 'Dressers,' a nickname associated with the gang that has long been linked to the Fir Park football scene. The confrontation, which was recorded and subsequently streamed on Facebook, has garnered nearly 300,000 views, highlighting the widespread public interest and concern.
The sting was orchestrated by the organization Children’s Innocence Matters, which specializes in exposing individuals attempting to engage with minors online. During the operation, Notman engaged in a conversation with what he believed was a young girl named 'Emma' on the dating app Meet24. Unbeknownst to him, he was speaking to a decoy set up by the group to catch predators.
As the conversation progressed, members of the group monitored the chat and prepared to confront Notman. The footage reveals a tense exchange where Notman initially denies any wrongdoing or plans to meet the girl. However, live messaging shows that members of the group, who are associated with the violent Motherwell-based gang, demanded that Notman remove his clothing and cover the T-shirt that identified him with the Saturday Service.
In one part of the video, a woman’s voice can be heard telling Notman, “The Motherwell Saturday Service have seen this video and have said bin your t-shirt. People from all around Motherwell are saying you’ve to take that top off. It’s a casual top.”
Another voice then condemns him, saying, “You’re a sh** bag. You can only pick on wee boys. You’re not a casual. You’re an old man pretending to be a football casual.” The footage clearly shows the community’s outrage and the gang’s intolerance for such behavior.
Following the incident, Notman appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court, where he admitted to charges of sending indecent communications to a child and attempting to meet a person under 16 for sexual activity, both committed in November of the previous year. His criminal record includes a previous conviction in August 2021 for a vicious assault on a Hearts fan at Fir Park.
Sheriff Michael Higgins deferred sentencing until next month to allow for further reports and ordered that Notman be remanded in custody. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the community’s concern about his actions.
