ABERDEEN MAN SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR FIRE AND INTIMATE IMAGE THREATS
A self-described “dangerous guy” from Aberdeen, Graeme Hunter, was brought before Aberdeen Sheriff Court after threatening to set fire to a woman's home and sharing disturbing messages with her.Court documents detailed how Hunter sent multiple voice notes via a mutual friend’s Facebook account, hinting he was capable of arson and making ominous threats.
He warned that he was a "dangerous guy" and advised her to prepare for fire-proof letterboxes.
Hunter further threatened to post an intimate video of her on the internet and claimed to have a “naughtiest dagger.” The threats escalated when he demanded she meet him and boasted about possessing a dangerous weapon.
The 35-year-old was sentenced to 12 months in jail for his actions and was also handed a two-year non-harassment order to prevent contact with the victim.
Notably, Hunter has a history of similar threats, having previously been jailed in 2020 for threatening to firebomb a woman's house while her children were inside.
The court was informed that Hunter felt aggrieved over financial issues, which he claimed motivated his actions.
His defense argued that he had sent some money to the woman previously and was upset that she did not reciprocate when he was in financial trouble.
The judge, Sheriff Morag McLaughlin, emphasized the seriousness of his threats and his past behavior, leading to the current sentence.
