Glyn Case

Bristol Sexual Abuser

August 2013 Victim’s bravery praised as Bristol man is jailed for raping girls POLICE have praised the bravery of a woman who took the Bristol man who abused her as a child to court. Glyn Case was jailed for 16 years at Bristol Crown Court last week after being convicted of a string of sex attacks on girls and women, over a 23-year period. The 66-year-old, formerly of Maywood Crescent, Fishponds, was convicted of five counts of rape of girls under the age of 16, two counts of indecent assault of girls under the age of 14 and two counts of serious sexual assault on an adult woman. He was jailed for 16 years for each count of rape, three years for one indecent assault, five years for another indecent assault and 15 years for each serious sexual assault. The sentences will be served at the same time, meaning that the total sentence is 16 years. Police revealed details of the case today and praised the woman who first came forward to bring her attacker to justice. Other victims were then found and their courage in giving evidence was also praised by police. Detective Sergeant Jason Hulbert investigated the abuse. He said: “The bravery of the first lady who came forward led to us finding further offences against other women, spanning a period from 1964 to 1987. “All three women showed great courage in giving evidence in court and undoubtedly the great support they had from their families throughout played a big part in the successful outcome.” Det Sgt Hulbert said the women were also grateful for the support they had been given by the court, where they were given the option to give evidence either by video link or from behind a screen. He said: “This case shows how the police, Crown Prosecution Service, courts and Witness Service really want to support the survivors of sexual abuse and we will do everything we can to make sure that these offenders are brought to justice in a way that supports their victims.” Anyone who has been the victim of rape or sexual assault can call the police’s specialist investigation team, Operation Bluestone, on 101.
