BRISTOL BUILDER NIGEL COOK CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND VOYEURISM IN BRISTOL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bristol, Nigel Cook, a 57-year-old builder, has been exposed for leading a secret double life filled with illicit activities spanning over two decades.The court heard that Cook was involved in a heinous pattern of spying on individuals, secretly filming children, and amassing an extensive collection of child pornography, much of which he obtained through online sources.
According to evidence presented at Bristol Crown Court, authorities uncovered a staggering amount of illegal material during a search of Cook’s residence in May of the previous year.
The Croatian authorities had initially flagged Cook’s activities, prompting local police to investigate further.
During the search, officers seized his computer equipment and camcorder, revealing that Cook had downloaded approximately 200,000 images.
Of these, 23,000 were subjected to detailed analysis, confirming that a significant portion consisted of indecent images involving minors.
Nigel Cook faced multiple charges, including 21 counts of making indecent photographs, seven counts of taking indecent photographs, three counts of attempting to take indecent photographs, and four counts of voyeurism.
He ultimately pleaded guilty to all charges.
The court sentenced him to 28 months in prison.
The presiding judge, Mr.
Christopher Parker QC, remarked on the severity of Cook’s actions, stating, “You had, for many, many years, been leading a double life.” In addition to his prison sentence, Cook was subjected to a sexual offences prevention order, which was made indefinite.
This order prohibits him from having any contact with, working with, or living with individuals under the age of 16.
Furthermore, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Prosecutor Brendon Moorhouse detailed the police findings, noting that during the raid, authorities seized various pieces of video equipment, including homemade videos.
These videos depicted different locations and were taken over a lengthy period, indicating a sustained pattern of voyeuristic behavior.
One particularly disturbing example involved Cook filming a young girl at a sports club where he was working as a subcontractor.
He was recorded making inappropriate comments about her body while filming.
When questioned during a subsequent interview in December, Cook refused to answer most questions, replying with “no comment.” Despite this, he was granted bail.
During further police interviews, Cook admitted to creating his own videos and confessed that he found pubescent children sexually attractive, revealing the disturbing extent of his predatory behavior.
