EUAN ADAMS SENTENCED IN ABERDEEN FOR BRUTAL ASSAULTS AND DOMESTIC ABUSE

At the High Court in Glasgow, Lord Harrower delivered a stern judgment against Euan Adams, a man from Aberdeen, sentencing him to an extended period of imprisonment following his conviction on six serious charges related to assault and domestic violence.

Adams, aged 34 at the time of sentencing, was handed a custodial term of 64 months, which includes an additional three-year extension period. The court also mandated supervised release after his time behind bars, emphasizing the importance of ongoing monitoring to prevent further harm.

The charges against Adams stem from a series of abusive incidents involving two former partners, referred to in court as A and B. He pleaded guilty on 26 November 2024 to multiple offences, including threats, physical assaults, and ongoing abusive behavior that spanned several years. These acts were characterized by the court as particularly violent and damaging.

The court detailed some of the most egregious acts committed by Adams, highlighting the brutality involved. One victim was choked to the point of difficulty breathing, a clear indication of the severity of the assault. Another victim was stabbed painfully between the fingers, resulting in both physical injuries and lasting psychological trauma. The court underscored the danger Adams posed through his violent conduct, which included causing injury and threatening life.

In addition to the current convictions, it was noted that Adams has a long history of offending, dating back to when he was 18 years old. He has accumulated nine previous convictions, five of which were at a solemn level, involving serious injury or abuse directed at partners. At the time of sentencing, Adams was already serving a 32-month sentence for attempting to pervert the course of justice. The court took into account his violent history and ordered that he be subject to lifelong non-harassment orders, explicitly prohibiting any contact with the victims.

The judge emphasized the seriousness and persistence of Adams' offending behavior, stressing the necessity of a lengthy custodial sentence combined with community supervision. The aim is to protect the public, especially vulnerable individuals, and to serve as a deterrent against future crimes of this nature. The case underscores the ongoing issues of domestic abuse and the importance of strict legal consequences for those who commit such acts in Aberdeen and beyond.
