DONOVAN MCGOWAN'S REIGN OF TERROR IN GLASGOW: SEX OFFENDER BACK BEHIND BARS AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK
In a disturbing series of events that have shocked the community in Glasgow, Donovan McGowan, a man with a notorious criminal history, has once again found himself incarcerated following a violent assault on his partner. The incident, which took place at his residence in the Knightswood area, has reignited concerns about his pattern of aggressive and racially motivated behavior.
According to court reports, the assault occurred in June of this year when the 35-year-old victim and her friend returned to McGowan’s home after attending a social gathering.
The atmosphere quickly turned hostile when McGowan, reportedly upset over the woman’s appearance, began shouting at her.
Witnesses say he was particularly agitated about her wearing makeup and having styled her hair, which seemed to provoke his wrath.
Prosecutor Lauren McRobert detailed the sequence of events, stating, “He shouted at her as she was wearing make-up and had her hair done.
He called her a ‘p*** lover’ because her child is of mixed race.
He then said: ‘Go and get your black man’.” The verbal abuse escalated into physical violence when McGowan punched the woman twice, leaving her with visible bruises on her arms and legs.
Following the assault, McGowan stormed out of the house but soon returned, clutching a hammer.
During this confrontation, he made a chilling remark, telling his partner that she was “lucky” she was not a man, while wielding the weapon.
The police were alerted to the disturbance, but McGowan warned his partner and her friend to remain silent when officers arrived at the scene.
It was only the following day that law enforcement officials managed to speak with the victim.
Upon examination, officers noted the bruising and injuries consistent with her account.
Police subsequently located McGowan hiding at his residence, where he was taken into custody.
McGowan’s criminal record is extensive and troubling.
In 2011, he was sentenced to five years in prison after attempting to rape a 17-year-old girl who had come to his aid while he was intoxicated.
His history of violent and racially charged offenses has led to a serious concern among community members and law enforcement alike.
During the recent court hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Sheriff Norman Ritchie QC addressed McGowan directly, stating, “Your record is simply atrocious and I’m sure you know that.” McGowan, who admitted to the charges of assault and racially aggravated behavior, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for this latest incident.
The sentence reflects the severity of his actions and the ongoing pattern of violence and hate that he has exhibited in Glasgow.
