DENIS BEYTULA FROM WALLSEND CONFESSES TO MURDERING BABY BOY AND ATTEMPTED MURDER OF MOTHER
In October 2019, a tragic incident unfolded at a property on Portland Close in Wallsend, North Tyneside, that would leave a community in shock and mourning. A man named Denis Erdinch Beytula, aged 27, admitted to the brutal murder of his three-week-old son, as well as an attempt to take the life of the child's mother, Andreea Stefan. On the early morning of October 2nd, emergency services responded to a distress call around 2:15 AM BST. Upon arrival, they discovered both Andreea Stefan and her infant son, baby Andrei, suffering from severe stab wounds. The injuries inflicted were critical, prompting immediate hospital transportation for both victims. Despite the medical team's efforts, baby Andrei succumbed to his injuries four days later, while his mother, Andreea Stefan, managed to survive her ordeal.
Details emerging from the investigation indicated that the attack was triggered by an argument between Beytula and the victims. Police reports confirmed that Beytula was responsible for stabbing both Andreea and her baby. Remarkably, Andreea Stefan was able to contact emergency services by dialing 999 before Beytula himself called the police shortly afterward, confessing to the assault. Beytula was promptly arrested at the scene.
Following his guilty plea at Newcastle Crown Court, Beytula was remanded into custody by Judge Penny Moreland. His sentencing is scheduled for December 19th. The community and the family of the victims continue to grapple with the devastating loss and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
In a heartfelt statement issued after the court proceedings, Andreea Stefan expressed her gratitude to those who showed support during this difficult time. She said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to leave flowers and toys and paid respect to my son. I really appreciate it, and thanks to everyone for the messages. It’s really nice to see how you guys support me and my family during this hard time.”
