WALLSEND SEX OFFENDER JOSEPH (ALBERT) TUDOR BACK IN COURT OVER FAKE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT IN WALLSEND

In a case that has once again brought Joseph (Albert) Tudor into the spotlight, the 42-year-old sex offender from Wallsend has appeared in court after breaching the conditions of his registration requirements. Tudor, who is also known by the name Albert, was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register in 2017, a legal obligation that mandates strict adherence to certain rules, including the obligation to inform authorities of any changes in personal details or online activity.

According to court reports, Tudor failed to comply with these rules when he created a Facebook account under a false identity. Specifically, during a routine review conducted by police on March 25 of this year, officers discovered that Tudor had set up a social media profile using the alias 'Joe Virgo.' This action was a clear violation of his notification obligations, which require him to disclose any online accounts or pseudonyms he uses, especially given his status as a registered sex offender.

The court proceedings revealed that Tudor, who resides on Bewicke Road in Wallsend, was brought back before the court to answer charges related to his failure to notify authorities about his Facebook account. Tudor pleaded guilty to the offence, acknowledging that he had not informed police about the account he had created.

During his police interview, Tudor explained that his oversight was due to being 'absent-minded' at the time of setting up the account. He admitted that he had forgotten to report the new social media profile, which he had created after experiencing death threats on his previous account registered under his real name. Tudor further explained that he chose to use his zodiac sign as his surname when creating the fake account, perhaps as a means of anonymity or protection.

Prosecutor Paul Anderson outlined the details of the case, emphasizing that Tudor's actions constituted a breach of the notification requirements that are part of his legal obligations as a sex offender. The court was informed that Tudor's previous convictions include a racially and religiously aggravated common assault, which underscores the seriousness of his compliance failures.

District Judge Kate Meek decided that a pre-sentence report was necessary before making a final judgment. The case was adjourned until September 6, with Tudor being released on bail and ordered to return to court on that date to face sentencing. The court's decision highlights the ongoing concern regarding the monitoring and management of sex offenders, especially those who attempt to circumvent legal restrictions through online activities.
