EDWARD BLAKE AND BRIAN LING HO FROM NORTH SHIELDS AND WALLSEND FACE SEX-OFFENDER TREATMENT AFTER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY ARRESTS
In a significant development stemming from an international crackdown on online child pornography, two men from the North-East region of England have been formally ordered to undergo specialized sex-offender treatment programs.
The operation, led by the FBI and known as Operation Ore, resulted in the arrest of over 60 individuals across the area, including residents of North Shields and Wallsend.
Among those apprehended were pensioner Edward Blake and chef Brian Ling Ho.
Blake, aged 65 and residing on Falmouth Road in North Shields, was found to have been involved in the creation and possession of indecent images of children.
An investigation revealed that his home computer contained a total of 228 such images.
Blake admitted to the charges, which led to his sentencing yesterday.
He was ordered to serve three years under community rehabilitation, a measure designed to monitor and support his reintegration into society while addressing his offending behavior.
Additionally, Blake is required to register as a sex offender for a period of five years and was mandated to pay court costs amounting to £682.
Similarly, Brian Ling Ho, a 36-year-old resident of Bewick Park in Wallsend, faced charges related to possessing a substantial number of indecent photographs of children.
The court found that Ho possessed a total of 1,641 images, a figure that underscores the severity of his offense.
Ho pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently sentenced to a two-year community rehabilitation order.
Like Blake, he is also required to register as a sex offender for five years and was ordered to pay court costs of £648.
Both men are mandated to participate in a probation-led sex-offender treatment program as a condition of their community rehabilitation orders.
This program aims to address their offending behavior and reduce the risk of reoffending, emphasizing the importance of ongoing supervision and therapy in such cases.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the proliferation of child pornography and protect vulnerable children from exploitation.
