DANIEL ROBERTSON'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN DUNDEE AND ABERDEENSHIRE
A man from Dundee, Daniel Robertson, has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving vulnerable women, with his crimes spanning multiple locations including Dundee and a village near Inverurie in Aberdeenshire. The case against Robertson revealed disturbing details about his assault on a woman who had been out drinking with friends.
After a night at the pub, the woman returned home feeling the effects of alcohol and was unable to recall the events that transpired.
She described waking up the next day feeling severely hungover, only to be confronted with Robertson asking her, “Do you not remember having sex?” She recounted feeling as if “creepy crawlies” were all over her and expressed her feelings of disgust, describing her experience as deeply violating.
The victim’s testimony was supported by evidence that Robertson later posted on an online platform, claiming that he had engaged in sexual activity with her while she was “steaming drunk.” Daniel Robertson, aged 33 and residing at Aberdour Place in Dundee, faced serious charges.
He initially denied raping the woman and insisted he did not have sexual relations with her on the night in question.
However, the court found him guilty of assault and rape, confirming that the assault took place on either May 24 or 25, 2019, at an address in a village near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
The court heard that the woman was intoxicated and unable to give or withhold consent at the time of the attack, and Robertson was aware of her condition, having admitted to guiding her into a bedroom during the incident.
In addition to this conviction, Robertson faced another serious charge.
He was also found guilty of attacking and raping a second woman at an address in Dundee on December 21, 2021.
The second victim recounted that she had gone to the bathroom when Robertson suddenly grabbed her and began sexually assaulting her.
Despite her protests, saying “I don’t want this,” Robertson continued his assault.
She also expressed concern that he was not wearing a condom and described the ordeal as lasting “like it went on for a lifetime.” Following the verdicts, Judge Alison Stirling deferred sentencing to allow for a background report to be prepared.
She made it clear that a custodial sentence was “virtually inevitable,” emphasizing the severity of Robertson’s actions.
The court also ordered Robertson to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring.
