DANIEL MALONE SENTENCED IN EDINBURGH FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENSES IN ABERDEEN AND DYSART
A man convicted of multiple sexual offenses, including raping sleeping women during a series of attacks, has been sentenced to eight years in prison.Daniel Malone, 32, committed his crimes in Aberdeen and Dysart, Fife.
Although he denied the charges, he was found guilty of rapes and sexual assaults involving three women.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Alison Stirling ordered that Malone serve an additional three years of supervision upon his release.
The court heard about an incident where Malone left one victim in a "terrible" state after an altercation at a flat in Aberdeen, which resulted in her falling onto the floor outside the front door.
Malone was convicted of raping this woman in 2019 and 2020.
The judge described the case as "difficult" when addressing the jury at the conclusion of the earlier trial.
The prosecution outlined that Malone twice raped the woman while she was asleep and unable to consent, at an address in Aberdeen.
On a third occasion, he pulled off her towel and pushed her onto a bed.
Additionally, evidence showed that he raped another woman between 2008 and 2009 at locations in Aberdeen and Dysart, while she was sleeping.
His third victim suffered a rape and several sexual assaults at a house in Aberdeen between June and September 2020.
Malone’s sentence was backdated to September 2020, and he was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
